About the role

Your job is to own billing at E2B — everything that touches how we charge customers, collect revenue, and capture the data behind it. The metering pipeline, the Stripe integration, invoicing, collections, and the billing surfaces developers see in the dashboard.

Your code will be responsible for collecting data metrics, creating and sending invoices and reconciliation of payments for our customers across the globe.

We have a billing system. Your job is to take it over end to end and redesign it. Engineering, finance, and customers all depend on the system and the data it produces, and you'll work across all three. When a customer asks why their invoice looks the way it does, you're the person who can answer. Responsibilities include:

• Owning the services behind billing end-to-end — usage metering, charge calculation, invoicing, payments, and the data models underneath them
• Owning the Stripe integration end-to-end: subscriptions, Billing Meters, and enterprise invoicing edge cases
• Building billing automation: failed-payment recovery, collections, proration and plan changes, credits, refunds, and disputes
• Working with engineers across Core, Platform, and Dashboard to get the data billing depends on, and defining the contracts for it
• Partnering with finance on reconciliation, revenue reporting, and audit-readiness
• Making architectural decisions around observability, testing, and security

What we're looking for

• Understanding of metric collection, metered usage, Pay-as-you-go, billing cycles - being able to understand finance requirements and translate them into well tested code
• Backend engineer with 5+ years billing systems experience, with deep expertise in Go
• Strong API design — REST/RPC, contracts and versioning
• Solid with PostgreSQL: schema design, query optimization, migrations, and reasoning about data at scale
• Backend fundamentals: authentication/authorization, server-side performance, and building real-time data flows (WebSockets, SSE)
• Experienced with charging logic, collections, billing automation, and billing-related data flows
• Comfortable with complex invoicing, SKUs, usage-/contract-based billing, and third-party payment platforms
• Strong cross-functional communication skills, especially with finance
• Comfortable owning a system end-to-end with high autonomy
• Able to work through ambiguity and figure things out independently
