About Business Operations at Hebbia

Business Operations is the function that turns ambiguous executive and board questions into a decision, an owner, and a number, and then makes that decision operational. It is the connective tissue between finance, go-to-market, and product at a company growing faster than its processes.

This role goes beyond reporting. You will do the analysis, make a recommendation the executive team can act on, and follow through on the pricing change, operating plan, or commercial policy that follows.

Role Description

As the Director of Business Operations, you will report to our President/CTO and lead a broad remit across board preparation, company planning, pricing and consumption economics, and GTM decision support. You will connect product usage, customer economics, revenue, and spend to help the executive team decide where to invest and how to operate.

You will run this function as a team of one. You will set priorities, do the analysis yourself, and work with Finance, Product, Engineering, and GTM to turn decisions into operating changes. You will have direct influence on how Hebbia prices, plans, and allocates capital.

What You'll Do

• Drive board preparation end to end: build the operating narrative, coordinate inputs and the deck, and make the decisions and owners clear. Finance owns the official financials and investor diligence.
• Own the commercial and economic side of pricing and consumption: customer cost-to-serve, margins, packaging, rate cards, deal rules, discounting, renewal migration, and Sales enablement. Product owns the metering and billing experience; Engineering builds the supporting systems. Work with both teams to make the model operational.
• Own revenue and GTM decision analytics: pipeline coverage, quota and capacity scenarios, account economics, and investment tradeoffs. Sales and RevOps own CRM integrity and the day-to-day sales cadence.
• Run annual and quarterly planning across the company: the operating plan, headcount and target tradeoffs, QBRs, and plan vs. actual. Track spend, burn, and run rate with Finance and bring resource-allocation decisions to the executive team.
• Lead selected strategic analyses and cross-functional projects, including strategic-account deal economics, ABM investment choices, build/buy decisions, and pricing experiments. Sales and Marketing retain account and campaign execution.
• Partner with GTM as a credible counterweight — earn trust with Sales leadership to say no to a deal with bad economics, while actively contributing to enablement and helping reps win the deals that are good.

Who You Are

• 7+ years across strategic finance, business operations, management consulting, investment banking, private equity, or corporate strategy, including experience in a startup operating role. Experience in a larger, scaling company is valuable.
• You have personally led board preparation, built the operating narrative and metrics, and worked with Finance to present an accurate picture of the business.
• You have worked on consequential pricing and packaging decisions and can reason from usage, costs, customer value, and Sales behavior. Direct experience with enterprise usage or consumption pricing is a plus.
• Financial modeling rigor that drives decisions. Strong instincts for P&L, customer unit economics, company burn and run rate, and resource allocation.
• Comfortable as the sole owner. High ambiguity, no team to delegate to, and the judgment to re-prioritize as the company's needs change month to month.
• Credible with Sales, Finance, and Product. Comfortable speaking directly with customers to test pricing and understand commercial needs, while partnering with account owners rather than carrying a number.
• Deep AI curiosity is a must; AI-native fluency is a big plus. You should already be using these tools to do your own work better.
• Comfortable working in person five days a week in our SoHo NYC or San Francisco office.

Compensation

The base compensation range for this role is $170,000 - $220,000 + competitive equity. These ranges are inclusive of several career levels at Hebbia and will be narrowed during the interview process based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Adjustments outside of this range may be considered for candidates whose qualifications significantly differ from those outlined in the job description.
